Gestalt therapy for children

About Gestalt therapy for children and the type of therapy I offer:

I work in a cozy place with games, soft toys and music.  I am a mother of two teenagers, and I really enjoy working with children.  I am a creative person and use drawing, play and movement as the main tools in our sessions.  I like children to come and see me with enthusiasm and feel safe in an environment where we can share together with respect, surprise, sadness, anger and joy.

The child is their own guide in therapy.  This means that they share what they want to share at their own pace in a trusting relationship.  During the sessions we discover how to move forward together in a caring and respectful way to make the changes they need in their life.

As part of the therapeutic process there is a session with caregivers once a month.  In order to make changes, children need their family and caregivers to be involved.

As an essential part of my training as a child therapist, I have observed my own childhood and adolescence, and I have seen the repercussions they have had on my personal development and on my family and emotional bonds.  I believe that this process has given me a lot as a therapist and helps me to accompany children in such a vulnerable place.

Unless this is a British vs. Canadian thing, “stuffed animals” makes me think of dead animals that have been stuffed by a taxidermist!
